A versatile 3, 4, 5 or 6 piece group from the Sarasota area, The Dave Martin Band has performed for all major area fundraiser and society events. Selby Botanical Gardens Orchid Ball for 4 years, New College Library Association Mistletoe Ball, Ringling Museum Ungala Gala, Florida West Coast Symphony Designer Showcase Gala, many of the highly successful Get Down Downtown events as well as The Sarasota 2000 Millennium Celebration main stage with over 25,000 guests in attendance. Country Club events, yacht club events, corporate events for clients like Moffitt Cancer Research Hospital, International Ship Repair, Pepin Distributing, Tampa Museum, Old Hyde Park Shopping Village, The Pier in St. Pete, University of South Florida, Mote Marine Lab in Sarasota, The South Florida Museum, Tampa General Hospital, Pepsi, Tropicana Products and many more demonstrate that The Dave Martin Band can make the party fun.
Many events require a band that can play soft hits and dinner music and the Dave Martin Band has hours of great jazz standards, light rock hits, soft ballads and familiar lite jazz favorites for dinner. Volume is never and issue for this group. They also are very adept at watching the schedule of the evening and knowing just when to bring up the energy level for the party up part of the night.
Probably one of the biggest reasons for the band’s success is the wide variety of music from the past 40 years that the group can perform. Classic rock favorites from Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Bruce Springsteen and John Cougar Mellencamp, R & B favorites like Sister Sledge and KC & The Sunshine Band, Outkast, current dance favorites from Gwen Stefani and Pink, Beach and Tropical hits from Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley help round out a sound that keeps people on the floor.
The core of the group is keyboard, guitar and bass but the band can be expanded to include female vocalist, sax player and drummer should your event require a larger, more full sound. All members have been working musicians for many years and the group’s female vocalist was a member of Omni one of the area’s finest dance groups that for many years played at Columbia Restaurant’s Patio Lounge. 4 Members of the band are vocalist for a full sound on your favorite tunes.
